loved these kinds of questions in school.<\/p>\n And I still love them.<\/p>\n Because they make me curious.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And also, they challenge me.<\/p>\n I\u2019m sure that you want the answer, right?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n If you want me to be completely honest, the correct answer is C.<\/p>\n If you don\u2019t have any experience manipulating dyes and you have no idea about color theory, mixing two dyes can result in a hair tragedy.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Yes, just as you read it.<\/p>\n I know of cases that women wanted to dye their hair red and it ended up black.<\/p>\n Or women that wanted a classic ashy blonde and they ended up with a horrible green tone.<\/p>\n Do you see why I say it\u2019s not a good idea to mix dyes without knowing how?<\/p>\n Do you still not believe me?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So that you understand why mixing two dyes could end up in a disaster for your hair, it\u2019s necessary to talk to about colorimetry. <\/span>\n That is, color theory.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n So, I\u2019ll explain to you:<\/p>\n Should we start?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n Have you ever stood staring at those samples that they have in salons or in specialty stores with a ton of little chunks of hair of different colors?<\/p>\n Have you every felt the need for color of those little chunks that you want for your hair to magically fall into your hands?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Well, the truth is that anyone that wants to be a professional colorist always has to keep in mind three things:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And they are yellow, blue, and red.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Green: yellow and blue<\/p>\n Violet: blue and red<\/p>\n Orange: red and yellow<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Green-yellow<\/p>\n Blue-green<\/p>\n Violet-red<\/p>\n Orange-red<\/p>\n Orange-yellow<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Understanding these principles are what allow colorists to find a personalized color tone.<\/p>\n Because that is what we are talking about when we think about mixing colors.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Getting a unique, personalized hair color that keeps in mind not just the color of the dye but also the tone of your skin<\/a> and the color of your eyes, among other things.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n When one of my clients comes to the salon looking for a unique hair color, I analyze her hair.<\/p>\n I look it over carefully.<\/p>\n And I keep in mind a few considerations, like:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This system measures the natural level of luminosity and darkness o the hair and it is divided into ten levels:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The underlying pigment<\/a> is what is revealed once you bleach your hair or when we have lightened the natural color even just one or two tones.<\/p>\n It\u2019s always easier to associated each level with its place on the color wheel.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Let\u2019s see then which underlying pigment exists for each one of the levels that we saw recently.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Now, if I want to, for example, accentuate the tone and really get a color that appears in natural level 7, for example, I would add an underlying pigment that would be yellow-orange or red-orange.<\/p>\n Now, if I would want to neutralize the underlying orange pigment in a natural level 7, I would add blue to the mixture, since that is a complementary tone on the color wheel.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Very well, now we\u2019ve seen the colors, the height of the tones and the underlying pigments.<\/p>\n Now, let\u2019s move on to the next step.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The highlights that are located behind the number that identifies the height of the tones, and they are what ultimately tones the color.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n There are seven:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I\u2019m sure you are asking where I\u2019m getting at with all this information.<\/p>\n What I\u2019m getting at is that coloring hair is a science.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n And to get a natural and unique hair color, it doesn\u2019t work to simply mix two coloring kits.<\/p>\n Even though you can do it.<\/p>\n But the results will never be the same as what professional colorists can get.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A lot of people tend to come to my salon looking to fix a disaster<\/a> that they did to their hair due to experimenting without knowing about different dyes.<\/p>\n And sometimes it\u2019s difficult to do it.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n When you want to explore your artistic abilities on a piece of paper, if you don\u2019t like the results, nothing happens. <\/span>\n You can just throw away the paper.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But with your hair, that\u2019s another thing.<\/p>\n It gets damaged, it gets harmed, it breaks.<\/p>\n And to fix a bad coloring, you need to do another coloring.<\/p>\n Which means continuing to add chemical products.<\/p>\n My advice?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Leave the dye experimenting to the experts.<\/p>\n Even so, let me tell you three examples of people that mixed two different dyes.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Case 1- In search of the perfect black<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Elena came to the salon desperate.<\/p>\n She dreamed about having a reddish black in her hair.<\/p>\n Reddish black?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n My eyes opened wide like plates.<\/p>\n There is no such thing as reddish black. There\u2019s bluish black or reddish brown.<\/p>\n Or burgundy, but reddish black?<\/p>\n The results?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n She decided to mix a black dye with a red dye. And her hair ended up completely black.<\/p>\n Which isn\u2019t want she wanted.<\/p>\n And now she wanted me to get rid of the color.<\/p>\n Bad news for Elena.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Black is one of the hardest pigments to get out.<\/p>\n Either you wait patiently for it to fade, or you should bleach your hair<\/a>, so that after you can apply a new color.<\/p>\n In this case, I would advise you to let the time pass.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Her hair was fine and broken and it wouldn\u2019t resist a bleaching.<\/p>\n So, now you know.<\/p>\n No color takes away pigment from black.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Case 2- Neutralizing the orange chunks<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Sonia almost always colored her hair a dark brown.<\/p>\n She came to the salon because she was tired of after a few washes, some pretty unpleasant orange highlights appearing in her hair.<\/p>\n According to what we saw before, how would you solve this problem?<\/p>\n Do you have it?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Exactly!<\/p>\n\n\n
