I\u2019m both physically and mentally exhausted because today was one of those days at the salon where you feel like the whole universe is conspiring against you.<\/p>\n<p>Want to know why I\u2019m telling you this?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Because there\u2019s nothing more exhausting than a client that wants to do something that you know won\u2019t work on their hair, and even so, they keep insisting and insisting and insisting.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>So, before I collapse from exhaustion: if you\u2019re thinking about getting a balayage to cover your roots, the answer is a resounding \u201cNO.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read that again. A balayage is not right to hide your roots growing in.<\/p>\n<p>If you insist on getting this treatment done on your roots anyway, I can still offer you an alternative, which I\u2019ll tell you about later on.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Yes, I\u2019ve already heard it all because I imagine that it\u2019s the same thing that I just spent three hours talking to Irene about in real life.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> I know balayage is on-trend right now. Although, to be honest with you, influencers weren\u2019t the ones that invented balayage. In the 70s, one French star, like Bridget Bardot, had this incredible style that truly looked like a master painter painted on it.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> I know it requires less maintenance than highlights. I\u2019m also aware that it produces an effect that looks natural like you never even got your hair dyed.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;A balayage is beautiful, but it doesn\u2019t work well for covering grey hairs, and it doesn\u2019t work well for managing root growth. That\u2019s how it is, whether you like it or not. &nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s like when you want to repair your damaged ends with moisturizing masks. Moisturization is excellent for the rest of your hair, but the only solution for split ends is to cut them. Whether we like it or not.<\/p>\n<p>I know that it sounds terrible, but it\u2019s the truth. But, a balayage isn\u2019t the best choice for doing so.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Balayage is a technique that can be done with many different colors and looks great no matter what your hairstyle is.<\/p>\n<p>But, do you have an idea about why I don\u2019t recommend balayage for greying hair?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> It\u2019s for a straightforward reason: <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>balayage focuses on the midsection and ends of your hair, while it usually doesn\u2019t touch your roots. And roots are where grey hairs appear.<\/strong><\/span> <\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, if you have many grey hairs, you\u2019ll have to retouch your roots more often.<\/p>\n<p>Can you imagine going to the <a href=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/en\/how-long-does-a-balayage-last\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">salon every three weeks<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That would be how often you\u2019d have to go to renew your color. And your bank account will start to diminish significantly, not to mention the damage it\u2019d do to your hair.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Also, to apply the dye, you have to bleach your hair to then apply the new color to the mid-section and the ends. <\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>usually, balayage creates the effect of lighter highlights with dark roots, so if your hair is brown or dark brown, it would be challenging to hide your roots, as opposed to someone with blonde or light blonde hair.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why if you have a lot of grey hair, you\u2019d have to retouch your roots often.<\/p>\n<p>And the consequences can be very grave for your hair. Although I repeat, it\u2019s not what I would recommend.<\/p>\n<p>But, I understand your love for this technique.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, if you insist on getting a balayage to hide your grey hairs, there\u2019s always an option.<\/p>\n<p>Can you guess what it is?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How to get a balayage to cover your grey hairs<\/h2>\n<p>Like I told you at the start, it was a terrible day at the salon, all because of one client. It\u2019s incredible how just one person can exhaust you so completely.<\/p>\n<p>After talking to Irene for three hours, I told her that the only way to do a balayage on her grey hair was <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>to \u201craise\u201d the balayage.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I finally left her speechless. My ears were genuinely thankful.<\/p>\n<p>Do you know what raising a balayage means?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Generally, you do a balayage <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>starting around your ears, leaving about 4-8 inches after the roots, depending on the person\u2019s hair length.<\/strong><\/span><\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That way, the roots are a darker color, and the ends are blonder.<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;Raising the balayage means that you dye the hair starting 1-2.5 inches after the roots. &nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That way, you can hide the grey hairs more efficiently, or if you choose a darker tone for your roots, you won\u2019t damage the rest of your hair as much.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what I did for Irene, although I told her that she would have to come back to the salon frequently. But, she wanted her balayage, and that didn\u2019t seem like a cost too high for getting what she wanted. In the end, there\u2019s someone crazy about everything.<\/p>\n<p>It was her hair and her money.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> There\u2019s also another option, which is to bleach your hair to make it blonde. That way, you won\u2019t see the roots as much.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But, of course, we\u2019re talking about bleaching your whole head, so I recommend that you leave that to a professional.<\/p>\n<p>If you go for this option, you won\u2019t have to retouch your roots as often since grey hairs go <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schwarzkopf.international\/en\/haircolor\/grayhair\/the-best-colors-against-gray-hair.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">unnoticed more easily in blonde hair<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Can I give you one more piece of advice?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You must prepare your hair before a balayage.<\/p>\n<p>Apply a repairing product to your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes while you watch your favorite show.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll see how your hair will be stronger, brighter, and softer in a short amount of time so you can balayage it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Do you want to know what happened to Irene after a few months?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>She admitted that she had made a mistake with her decision to get a balayage, and she deeply regretted not following my advice.<\/p>\n<p>She couldn\u2019t deal with needing to go to the hair salon every three weeks, and she also didn\u2019t want to spend so much money on maintaining her highlights.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;Truthfully, I felt bad for her, but that\u2019s why sometimes we hairstylists are so insistent about the advantages and disadvantages of some color techniques. &nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>Because not all techniques are for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>But, we also can help find solutions. A todas las mujeres nos sucede que cuando estamos alegres festejamos con un cambio de look y cuando estamos en un mal momento renovamos las energ\u00edas en el sal\u00f3n. \u2022 Estudie en IAP (Instituto Argentino de peluquer\u00eda) para recibir mi t\u00edtulo de estilista en el a\u00f1o 2006. \u2022 Luego en el instituto tambi\u00e9n me especialice en colorimetr\u00eda, los colores y tonos del cabello son fundamentales para expresar lo que uno desea. \u2022 En el a\u00f1o 2015 en IAP tom\u00e9 cursos de alisado, b\u00f3tox y cauterizaci\u00f3n capilar. \u2022 Y en el a\u00f1o 2017 t\u00e9cnicas de desgastado (balayage, californianas etc). Mantenerse actualizada en las tendencias es fundamental para cualquier estilista. Cuando veo a mis clientas que ven el cabello exactamente como lo so\u00f1aban para mi es un logro personal. Me dedico especialmente a realizar cambios de look, colores fantas\u00edas, balayage, decoloraciones progresivas etc. Trabaje en varios salones, para adquirir toda la pr\u00e1ctica que necesitaba. La cadena de peluquer\u00edas \u00d3scar Colombo fue mi primer sal\u00f3n donde aprend\u00ed a interpretar a las clientas y a trabajar en equipo. Despu\u00e9s de un tiempo cambie mi enfoque a looks m\u00e1s osados en Monster Style, dedic\u00e1ndome full time a color, este sal\u00f3n en particular se dedicaba a cambios extremos colores fantas\u00edas y no convencionales, me sirvi\u00f3 mucho para aprender a utilizar la gama de tonos. Hasta que finalmente decid\u00ed armar mi sal\u00f3n en la comodidad de mi casa. A todas las mujeres nos sucede que cuando estamos alegres festejamos con un cambio de look y cuando estamos en un mal momento renovamos las energ\u00edas en el sal\u00f3n. \u2022 Estudie en IAP (Instituto Argentino de peluquer\u00eda) para recibir mi t\u00edtulo de estilista en el a\u00f1o 2006. \u2022 Luego en el instituto tambi\u00e9n me especialice en colorimetr\u00eda, los colores y tonos del cabello son fundamentales para expresar lo que uno desea. \u2022 En el a\u00f1o 2015 en IAP tom\u00e9 cursos de alisado, b\u00f3tox y cauterizaci\u00f3n capilar. \u2022 Y en el a\u00f1o 2017 t\u00e9cnicas de desgastado (balayage, californianas etc). Mantenerse actualizada en las tendencias es fundamental para cualquier estilista. Cuando veo a mis clientas que ven el cabello exactamente como lo so\u00f1aban para mi es un logro personal. Me dedico especialmente a realizar cambios de look, colores fantas\u00edas, balayage, decoloraciones progresivas etc. Trabaje en varios salones, para adquirir toda la pr\u00e1ctica que necesitaba. La cadena de peluquer\u00edas \u00d3scar Colombo fue mi primer sal\u00f3n donde aprend\u00ed a interpretar a las clientas y a trabajar en equipo. Despu\u00e9s de un tiempo cambie mi enfoque a looks m\u00e1s osados en Monster Style, dedic\u00e1ndome full time a color, este sal\u00f3n en particular se dedicaba a cambios extremos colores fantas\u00edas y no convencionales, me sirvi\u00f3 mucho para aprender a utilizar la gama de tonos. Hasta que finalmente decid\u00ed armar mi sal\u00f3n en la comodidad de mi casa.
