This allows the dye to have an effect on the hair&#8217;s core, or cortex.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On top of that, the developer lifts your hair&#8217;s natural pigment so it can be replaced with another color.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Semi-permanent days, on the other hand, work in a very different way. These dyes do not contain ammonia, and most of them are not applied with developers, so they do not open the hair cuticle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Therefore, the pigments in semi-permanent dye adhere to the outside layer of your hair.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> You'll need dye and developer to permanently dye your hair, while semi-permanent dyes only require the dye itself.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In either case, you don't need to add water.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp; Adding water interferes with the chemical process that changes your hair color, whether you're using permanent or semi-permanent dye.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>This is true no matter why you're thinking of adding water to the dye.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, to save you from that mistake, in this article we will discuss:<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Why it&#8217;s not a good idea to add water to hair dye<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Things you CAN add to hair dye, and what they are used for<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Why you should never add water to hair dye<\/h2>\n<p>I've heard many strange things in my years of working in a salon.<\/p>\n<p>With some customers, I have even forged a bond beyond that of a stylist and her client, and we have become genuine friends. Because of that, I've heard some of the most intimate confessions and incredible adventures from those in my salon chair.<\/p>\n<p>I have also heard some downright strange things. Let's talk about those first.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Adding water to die so it goes further<\/h3>\n<p>This is simply not true. And the experience of Nora, one of my clients, proves the point. One day, as we were chatting, she confessed that she had added water to her hair dye years ago.<\/p>\n<p>When I ask you why she simply told me \"Well, I needed more die. And I was tired of having to buy <a href=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/en\/how-much-dye-to-buy-based-on-the-length-of-your-hair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">two boxes of dye<\/a> to color my long hair.\"<\/p>\n<p>How did this experiment turn out?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> The dye was so diluted that it could not evenly coat her hair. After all of that, she had to run out and buy two more boxes of dye.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While trying to save money, she ended up spending more.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Hair dye simply does not work like that. <span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp; To get a larger volume of permanent or semi-permanent die, you have to buy more product.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hair dye is not like paint, and you can't create more by mixing it with water. Just like Nora, you'll get the opposite effect. The dye will become less effective, and will not give you the result you want.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Imagine for a moment that you&#8217;re painting a picture, and want to create a pale, sky blue. So, you add water to the blue paint. Add enough water, and the paint will lose its intensity, to the point that it&#8217;s not even blue anymore.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Something similar happens to hair dye. Except this time, adding water inhibits the chemical process so the dye cannot open the cuticle to deposit the pigment.<\/p>\n<p>And that's now all. I'm going to reveal something even more interesting next.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> When you rinse your hair after applying hair dye, you are not only removing the excess product.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remember, the developer opens the cuticle of the hair so the pigment can be absorbed, and water stops this chemical process.<\/p>\n<p>This means it is essential to rinse your hair with water after dying. But also that if you add water to hair dye, the color will not take.<\/p>\n<p>Want to know a salon secret?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Occasionally I have a client with hair that absorbs color too quickly. To control the reaction, I apply water every five minutes, and carefully monitor how his or her hair is reacting to the dye.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Just like how water and oil don't mix, you shouldn't mix water and hair dye if you want to effectively dye your hair.<\/p>\n<p>But wait, because the strange things don't end there. There's one more to talk about.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Adding water to hair dye to lighten the color<\/h3>\n<p>If hair dye were that simple, why would companies invest loads of money in creating new colors?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> If adding water was all it took to lighten hair dye, there would only be four or five colors. Because you could just add water to lighten the tone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But the pigments in hair dye simply do not work like that. To achieve a lighter tone, you have to choose a lighter color of hair dye.<\/p>\n<p>If you add water, all you will do is dilute the dye, and it won&#8217;t cover your hair evenly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> If you want light blonde hair, you shouldn't add water to another hair dye. Instead, choose a light blonde tone.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Permanent and semi-permanent hair dyes come in a vast range of colors, so you can choose the ideal tone for your hair, without trying experiments that could damage your hair or waste your money.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp; TL;DR: you should not add water to permanent or semipermanent hair dye, as it will only make it less effective.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>Now, there are things you can mix with hair dye. A todas las mujeres nos sucede que cuando estamos alegres festejamos con un cambio de look y cuando estamos en un mal momento renovamos las energ\u00edas en el sal\u00f3n. \u2022 Estudie en IAP (Instituto Argentino de peluquer\u00eda) para recibir mi t\u00edtulo de estilista en el a\u00f1o 2006. \u2022 Luego en el instituto tambi\u00e9n me especialice en colorimetr\u00eda, los colores y tonos del cabello son fundamentales para expresar lo que uno desea. \u2022 En el a\u00f1o 2015 en IAP tom\u00e9 cursos de alisado, b\u00f3tox y cauterizaci\u00f3n capilar. \u2022 Y en el a\u00f1o 2017 t\u00e9cnicas de desgastado (balayage, californianas etc). Mantenerse actualizada en las tendencias es fundamental para cualquier estilista. Cuando veo a mis clientas que ven el cabello exactamente como lo so\u00f1aban para mi es un logro personal. Me dedico especialmente a realizar cambios de look, colores fantas\u00edas, balayage, decoloraciones progresivas etc. Trabaje en varios salones, para adquirir toda la pr\u00e1ctica que necesitaba. La cadena de peluquer\u00edas \u00d3scar Colombo fue mi primer sal\u00f3n donde aprend\u00ed a interpretar a las clientas y a trabajar en equipo. Despu\u00e9s de un tiempo cambie mi enfoque a looks m\u00e1s osados en Monster Style, dedic\u00e1ndome full time a color, este sal\u00f3n en particular se dedicaba a cambios extremos colores fantas\u00edas y no convencionales, me sirvi\u00f3 mucho para aprender a utilizar la gama de tonos. A todas las mujeres nos sucede que cuando estamos alegres festejamos con un cambio de look y cuando estamos en un mal momento renovamos las energ\u00edas en el sal\u00f3n. \u2022 Estudie en IAP (Instituto Argentino de peluquer\u00eda) para recibir mi t\u00edtulo de estilista en el a\u00f1o 2006. \u2022 Luego en el instituto tambi\u00e9n me especialice en colorimetr\u00eda, los colores y tonos del cabello son fundamentales para expresar lo que uno desea. \u2022 En el a\u00f1o 2015 en IAP tom\u00e9 cursos de alisado, b\u00f3tox y cauterizaci\u00f3n capilar. \u2022 Y en el a\u00f1o 2017 t\u00e9cnicas de desgastado (balayage, californianas etc). Mantenerse actualizada en las tendencias es fundamental para cualquier estilista. Cuando veo a mis clientas que ven el cabello exactamente como lo so\u00f1aban para mi es un logro personal. Me dedico especialmente a realizar cambios de look, colores fantas\u00edas, balayage, decoloraciones progresivas etc. Trabaje en varios salones, para adquirir toda la pr\u00e1ctica que necesitaba. La cadena de peluquer\u00edas \u00d3scar Colombo fue mi primer sal\u00f3n donde aprend\u00ed a interpretar a las clientas y a trabajar en equipo. Despu\u00e9s de un tiempo cambie mi enfoque a looks m\u00e1s osados en Monster Style, dedic\u00e1ndome full time a color, este sal\u00f3n en particular se dedicaba a cambios extremos colores fantas\u00edas y no convencionales, me sirvi\u00f3 mucho para aprender a utilizar la gama de tonos.
