To fix this phenomenon, you can get lowlights.<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> To get them, you\u2019ll need to wait until your highlights are very blonde.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Then, you\u2019ll need to use a dye that is at least two shades darker than your base color.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> It\u2019s ideal to reapply lowlights every four months and you can <a href=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/en\/cap-vs-foil-highlights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">either use a cap or foil<\/a> to do them.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;You probably know that lowlights are small areas of darker shades of hair that you get every 4-5 months when you touch up your highlights.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>If you\u2019re trying to get lighter hair by doing highlights, why would you want to darken your hair?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The reason is simple. Every time you update your <a href=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/en\/going-blonde-gradually-with-highlights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">highlights, your hair will get blonder<\/a> and blonder until you no longer have certain areas highlighted \u2013 your entire head of hair will be blonde.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>That\u2019s when it\u2019s time to get lowlights, to give your highlights life again.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And there\u2019s another big advantage. You don\u2019t need to bleach your hair to get lowlights like you would to get highlights. <span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;All you need to do is use a permanent or semi-permanent dye to add darker areas to your hair.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>That means lowlights are the opposite of highlights, since instead of raising your hair color a few shades, lowlights lower your hair color a few shades, using a color two shades darker than your base color strategically distributed throughout your hair.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This technique is especially good for adding dimension and depth to your hair, while also creating a more natural mix of colors. It also makes your hair look thicker and generally more voluminous.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s a technique that\u2019s much more common than you think. For example, last week one of my clients that loves balayage named Vivian came to my salon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When I looked at her hair, I noticed that after updating her highlights several times, her hair was too blonde; her hair color lacked depth, instead it was all very similar, which meant that her locks didn\u2019t stand out the way she wanted them to.<\/p>\n<p>When I proposed darkening some areas, she looked at me like I was crazy. And I understand why because for someone that loves sun-kissed locks, the word \u201cdarken\u201d made her think of the night and the moon, not the sun she loves.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But when I told her that I didn\u2019t necessarily mean that I\u2019d use a dark color, I just meant that we would use a color two shades darker than her base color.<\/p>\n<p>In her case, her base color was a light, ashy blonde and her highlights were platinum. That meant that we would use a dark ashy blonde for her lowlights.<\/p>\n<p>So, we would always be using light colors, just mixing them with a color one shade darker than blonde that would help return depth to her hair and make it stand out again.<\/p>\n<p>She took a deep breath out when I explained all that and I got to work. After putting on her cap, I threaded each piece of hair out that I would darken and applied the dye.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The results were amazing because you could see the highlights stand out again and her hair wasn\u2019t just one color. I mean, you could differentiate between the highlights and the lowlights.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re going through the same thing as Vivian, there\u2019s only one solution: lowlights. So, I\u2019ll tell you:<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> How to choose the right color for your lowlights<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> How often you should apply lowlights and how to take care of them<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How to choose the right color for your lowlights<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-25846\" src=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/darle-dimension-al-cabello.jpg\" alt=\"depth with lowlights\" width=\"500\" height=\"580\" srcset=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/darle-dimension-al-cabello.jpg 500w, https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/darle-dimension-al-cabello-259x300.jpg 259w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ideally, you should find <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>a color two shades darker than your base color.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>For example:<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> If your base color is a level 6 light brown and your highlights are a level 8 light blonde, your lowlights can be level 4 brown.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> If your base color is a level 7 dark blonde and your highlights are a level 9 lighter blonde, then you can get level 5 medium brown lowlights.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> If your base color is level 8 light blonde and your highlights are level 10 lightest blonde, you can dye some areas level 6 light brown. \u00a0<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;As you can see in the examples, you should always try to get lowlights two shades darker than your base color to make your highlights look their best.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>My recommendation is that if you\u2019re looking to improve how your highlights look, talk to a professional hair colorist. In the salon, they\u2019ll show you the palette of color options and you can decide which color is best for your lowlights together.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esalon.com\/hair-color-mastery\/colorist-tips\/best-hair-color-for-skin-tone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">skin tone<\/a> can also play an important role in the kinds of lowlights you choose.<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> If you have light skin with a warm undertone, then cinnamon colors will work well for you.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> If you have pale, cooler-toned skin, then dark chocolate and light brown will work better for you.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> If you have a medium skin tone with warm undertones, then golden brown is good for you, and if you have a medium skin tone with cooler undertones then lighter brown would be better.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> If you have darker skin with warm undertones, an intense caramel and dark brown will look best, while dark skin with cooler undertones goes well with dark brown. <\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, to decide the best color for your lowlights, your best bet is to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redken.com\/haircolor\/haircolor-terms-and-definitions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">talk with a hair colorist<\/a>, since they will be able to help you consider your hair\u2019s base color and the color of your highlights, as well as your skin tone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re worried about taking care of your lowlights, you can stop worrying because this technique won\u2019t make you a slave to the salon. A todas las mujeres nos sucede que cuando estamos alegres festejamos con un cambio de look y cuando estamos en un mal momento renovamos las energ\u00edas en el sal\u00f3n. \u2022 Estudie en IAP (Instituto Argentino de peluquer\u00eda) para recibir mi t\u00edtulo de estilista en el a\u00f1o 2006. \u2022 Luego en el instituto tambi\u00e9n me especialice en colorimetr\u00eda, los colores y tonos del cabello son fundamentales para expresar lo que uno desea. \u2022 En el a\u00f1o 2015 en IAP tom\u00e9 cursos de alisado, b\u00f3tox y cauterizaci\u00f3n capilar. \u2022 Y en el a\u00f1o 2017 t\u00e9cnicas de desgastado (balayage, californianas etc). Mantenerse actualizada en las tendencias es fundamental para cualquier estilista. Cuando veo a mis clientas que ven el cabello exactamente como lo so\u00f1aban para mi es un logro personal. Me dedico especialmente a realizar cambios de look, colores fantas\u00edas, balayage, decoloraciones progresivas etc. Trabaje en varios salones, para adquirir toda la pr\u00e1ctica que necesitaba. La cadena de peluquer\u00edas \u00d3scar Colombo fue mi primer sal\u00f3n donde aprend\u00ed a interpretar a las clientas y a trabajar en equipo. Despu\u00e9s de un tiempo cambie mi enfoque a looks m\u00e1s osados en Monster Style, dedic\u00e1ndome full time a color, este sal\u00f3n en particular se dedicaba a cambios extremos colores fantas\u00edas y no convencionales, me sirvi\u00f3 mucho para aprender a utilizar la gama de tonos. Hasta que finalmente decid\u00ed armar mi sal\u00f3n en la comodidad de mi casa. Mi casa le da a mis clientas la tranquilidad de tener un espacio para ellas \u00fanicamente y totalmente personal, de esta manera cada una de ellas sabe que tienen un d\u00eda para distenderse y tambi\u00e9n, porque no, hablar de sus cosas. Para mi lo m\u00e1s importante es que obtengan el resultado que esperaban, as\u00ed que siempre pido una foto de referencia para saber bien que es lo que buscan y les doy un diagn\u00f3stico realista de cuantas sesiones llevar\u00e1, el da\u00f1o en el cabello, si se puede realizar o no. En resumen, la peluquer\u00eda es mi vocaci\u00f3n y mi arte. No podr\u00eda haber hecho otra cosa en mi vida que ser estilista. Siento que el cabello es el marco de la cara, lo que nos da impronta y reafirma nuestra personalidad. Desde tiempos ancestrales el cabello representa la sexualidad femenina. A todas las mujeres nos sucede que cuando estamos alegres festejamos con un cambio de look y cuando estamos en un mal momento renovamos las energ\u00edas en el sal\u00f3n. \u2022 Estudie en IAP (Instituto Argentino de peluquer\u00eda) para recibir mi t\u00edtulo de estilista en el a\u00f1o 2006. \u2022 Luego en el instituto tambi\u00e9n me especialice en colorimetr\u00eda, los colores y tonos del cabello son fundamentales para expresar lo que uno desea. \u2022 En el a\u00f1o 2015 en IAP tom\u00e9 cursos de alisado, b\u00f3tox y cauterizaci\u00f3n capilar. \u2022 Y en el a\u00f1o 2017 t\u00e9cnicas de desgastado (balayage, californianas etc). Mantenerse actualizada en las tendencias es fundamental para cualquier estilista. Cuando veo a mis clientas que ven el cabello exactamente como lo so\u00f1aban para mi es un logro personal. Me dedico especialmente a realizar cambios de look, colores fantas\u00edas, balayage, decoloraciones progresivas etc. Trabaje en varios salones, para adquirir toda la pr\u00e1ctica que necesitaba. La cadena de peluquer\u00edas \u00d3scar Colombo fue mi primer sal\u00f3n donde aprend\u00ed a interpretar a las clientas y a trabajar en equipo. Despu\u00e9s de un tiempo cambie mi enfoque a looks m\u00e1s osados en Monster Style, dedic\u00e1ndome full time a color, este sal\u00f3n en particular se dedicaba a cambios extremos colores fantas\u00edas y no convencionales, me sirvi\u00f3 mucho para aprender a utilizar la gama de tonos. Hasta que finalmente decid\u00ed armar mi sal\u00f3n en la comodidad de mi casa. Mi casa le da a mis clientas la tranquilidad de tener un espacio para ellas \u00fanicamente y totalmente personal, de esta manera cada una de ellas sabe que tienen un d\u00eda para distenderse y tambi\u00e9n, porque no, hablar de sus cosas. Para mi lo m\u00e1s importante es que obtengan el resultado que esperaban, as\u00ed que siempre pido una foto de referencia para saber bien que es lo que buscan y les doy un diagn\u00f3stico realista de cuantas sesiones llevar\u00e1, el da\u00f1o en el cabello, si se puede realizar o no. En resumen, la peluquer\u00eda es mi vocaci\u00f3n y mi arte. No podr\u00eda haber hecho otra cosa en mi vida que ser estilista. Por eso el nombre se mi sal\u00f3n es Ponete Linda, ponete linda para vos siempre.
