If you cut or trim your hair after bleaching it, you\u2019ll be able to get rid of the damaged parts of your hair and it will look better.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Now, if you\u2019re planning to <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>bleach your hair as part of getting highlights or a balayage, that\u2019s a different story. In that case, it\u2019s better to cut your hair before you bleach it.<\/strong><\/span> I\u2019ll tell you why in a moment.<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Do you want to know how many of the women that come to my salon come to bleach their hair?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>80% of them. Yep, you read that right!<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;I bleach 80% of the different heads of hair I see in my salon,&nbsp;<\/span> whether their owner wants a drastic color change or because they want to get a <a href=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/en\/does-balayage-always-use-bleach\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sought-after balayage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But, even though it\u2019s one of the treatments I do most often, it\u2019s always a good idea for my clients to keep a few basic ideas in mind. Like how often they need to trim their hair to keep it healthy and when they should do it, before or after the bleach.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m going to give you two examples.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27791\" src=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/cortar-pelo-antes-del-balayage.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/cortar-pelo-antes-del-balayage.jpg 500w, https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/cortar-pelo-antes-del-balayage-283x300.jpg 283w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Caitlyn came to my salon looking to go from light brown hair to an <a href=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/en\/how-to-go-from-yellow-to-platinum-hair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">almost platinum color<\/a>. The thing was, we were dealing with two problems: One, her hair was very damaged. And two, I can\u2019t bleach damaged hair.<\/p>\n<p>What did we do in her case?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;First, I made her undergo one month of deep hydration treatments for her hair to prepare it for the chemical process. Once it was sufficiently restored, we bleached her hair. &nbsp;<\/span> And after we did that, I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stylecraze.com\/articles\/importance-of-trimming-split-ends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">trimmed her ends<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But, Lily came to my salon looking to get a few beautiful highlights in her incredible waves. So, in Lily\u2019s case, I cut a few inches off the end of her hair first.<\/p>\n<p>Why do you think that in Caitlyn\u2019s case I cut her hair after bleaching it, while in Lily\u2019s case, I did it beforehand?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have you guessed why?<\/p>\n<p>If so, stick around because I\u2019ll reveal the answer, and I\u2019ll tell you: <div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> Why it\u2019s better to cut your hair after bleaching it<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> How to take care of your hair after bleaching it<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Get your scissors ready or risk ruining your hair! How?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By altering the cuticle, which is the external layer of your hair. It opens so the bleach is able to get inside and carry out the reaction in each strand of hair.<\/p>\n<p>That means that the peroxide goes as deep as it can into your hair and lightens those natural pigments.<\/p>\n<p>What happens to your hair after bleaching it?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;Of course, no matter how many precautions you take, your hair will end up damaged because part of your hair\u2019s natural moisture evaporates with the chemicals. And it\u2019s likely that your ends will take the brunt of the damage. &nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>So, would it have make sense to cut Caitlyn\u2019s hair before I bleached it?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Of course not!<\/p>\n<p>First, because even if I trimmed her ends before bleaching her hair, the hair that remained would still be damaged. So, I\u2019d have to cut her hair again afterward.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody wants to sacrifice a few inches off the end of their hair for nothing, right?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And now you\u2019re probably asking yourself why I decided to cut Lily\u2019s hair before bleaching it.<\/p>\n<p>The explanation is simple.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;When it comes to balayage or highlights, you should always cut your hair before you bleach it, because if you do it afterward, you\u2019d be eliminating some of your beautiful new highlights or balayaged hair.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>And that means wasting time and money.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now that you know when it makes sense to cut your hair before and after bleaching it, I\u2019ve kept my promise. But, I\u2019ll also tell you how to take care of your hair after bleaching it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How to take care of your hair after bleaching it<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-27793\" src=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/productos-de-lavado-para-pelo-decolorado.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/productos-de-lavado-para-pelo-decolorado.jpg 500w, https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/productos-de-lavado-para-pelo-decolorado-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/productos-de-lavado-para-pelo-decolorado-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you want to have bright hair with depth and shine after bleaching it, you need to do a few things in addition to always keeping your ends trimmed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Choose shampoo and conditioner made for dyed hair.<\/div><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you never paid any mind to the sticker on your shampoo or conditioner bottles that lists the ingredients they\u2019re made with, now\u2019s the time to do it. If you see the words \u201csulfate,\u201d \u201cSodium Lauryl Sulfate\u201d or \u201cSodium Laureth Sulfate\u201d on a product, you can go ahead and put it right back on the shelf.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<span class=\"su-highlight\" style=\"background:#ffb5e8;color:#000000\">&nbsp;Because sulfates dry out your hair, and if you\u2019ve dyed your hair after bleaching it, they\u2019ll also make the pigments in your hair fade quicker.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<p>Look for <a href=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/en\/sulfate-free-shampoo-for-colored-hair\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">shampoos made for dyed<\/a> or fragile hair, and that are sulfate-free.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Use a toning shampoo.<\/div><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s very probable that after bleaching your hair, <a href=\"https:\/\/botoxcapilar.org\/en\/how-to-use-hair-toner-after-bleaching\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">your hair colorist used a toner<\/a> on it to neutralize unwanted tones.<\/p>\n<p>When you get some yellowish or orange tones in your hair, it\u2019s a good idea to use a toning shampoo, which will eliminate those kinds of tones from your hair and prolong the life of your color.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Use cream baths or masks once or twice a week.<\/div><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is key. Even if you\u2019ve cut off your damaged ends after bleaching your hair, it\u2019s very important that you keep nurturing your hair. Don\u2019t forget that it suffered during the bleach process and you need to care for it accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Limit your usage of heated styling tools.<\/div><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hair straighteners and curlers are wonderful allies for getting amazing \u2018dos, but if you abuse the tools, all you\u2019ll end up doing is drying out your hair and damaging your ends.<\/p>\n<p>And you don\u2019t want to have to cut your hair again, do you?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>Get your ends trimmed every 2-3 months. <\/div><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Trimming your ends is one of the best ways to keep bleached hair heathy. What is an inch or two every few months? The difference in length won\u2019t be so noticeable but your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hairfinder.com\/tips\/trimminghair.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hair\u2019s improved health will be<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Conclusions<\/h2>\n<div class=\"su-list milista\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>As a general rule, it\u2019s best to cut your hair after bleaching it. <\/strong><\/span>Since bleaching is an aggressive chemical progress, your hair fiber tends to be weakened and damaged by it.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> When you get rid of the damaged ends in your bleached hair, it will look healthier and feel stronger.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-check-square-o\" style=\"color:#800080\"><\/i> You should only cut your hair before bleaching it if you\u2019re bleaching it to get highlights or a balayage, since if you do it before, you\u2019ll avoid having to cut off large areas that you spent time and money to bleach. <\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And remember that having bleached hair means more commitment to caring for it on your part.<\/p>\n<p>And now, tell me: Will you cut your hair before or after bleaching it? A mis 25 a\u00f1os comenc\u00e9 a trabajar por mi cuenta, atendiendo a domicilio usando como medio de difusi\u00f3n Facebook y el boca en boca. Se me ocurri\u00f3 ocupar el tiempo de exposici\u00f3n de una tintura por ejemplo para que mis clientas no solo se vayan con el pelo divino sino que con sus u\u00f1as tambi\u00e9n. Mi jefe Martin Leiva es un genio en colorimetr\u00eda, por lo que me empap\u00e9 todo lo que pude durante mis dos a\u00f1os trabajando con \u00e9l. A mis 25 a\u00f1os comenc\u00e9 a trabajar por mi cuenta, atendiendo a domicilio usando como medio de difusi\u00f3n Facebook y el boca en boca.
