It has to do partly with marketing and partly with advances in hair beauty. Thank goodness, for some time we can differentiate between sulfate and sulfate-free shampoos.

We already said that sulfates are detergents. Therefore they eliminate the artificial pigments of the dye and dry out the hair fiber.

Also, the hair industry went a step further and invented the toning shampoo. One of its great exponents is the purple shampoo. .

It is a great discovery because it doesn’t only remove the pigments of the hair dyes. It also extends the life of the color because it neutralizes the orange tones in blond hair.

It means that every time you wash your hair, you add pigments, and your color remains intact for longer. Also, your hair fiber will be healthier since toning shampoo contains no sulfates or parabens.

Now, you shouldn’t leave purple shampoo to the last minute.

You should use it from the first wash after coloring your hair.

Remember that you shouldn’t wash your hair for at least 48 hours after any coloring technique.
