Is Arctic Fox Permanent, or Does it Wash Out Completely? Here’s the truth

 

Arctic Fox is a semi-permanent hair color. The supreme law of semi-permanent hair colors applies: they fade after a certain number of washes.

Some take longer to wash out and some take less time. Still, eventually they all fade.

 

In the specific case of Arctic Fox, and according to the manufacturer, the color fades out between 22 and 24 washes.

However, some colors can take much longer to completely fade (up to about 35 washes) I can assure you that “days” is a lot of difference.

What are those colors?

 

Arctic Fox’s darker, more intense tones take longer to wash out.

 

If you apply Phantom Green and Ritual, which are dark and intense tones on a light, almost white base, they’ll take longer to wash out. So, you should calculate approximately 30 to 35 washes.

On the other hand, colors like Frose or Neverland disappear in 24 washes.

Why do the more intense Arctic Fox colors take longer to fade completely?

 

Because they are more pigmented.

But you should also keep in mind that  most Arctic Fox hair dyes need an almost white base color. 

 

I’ll give you an example to help you understand why the base color of the hair is an influential factor in the duration of Arctic Fox.

Imagine that your son, nephew, or your best friend’s child doodles all over your white wall with purple and yellow paint.

Which of these colors will be easier to remove, yellow or purple?

 

Obviously, the lighter colored paint will be easier to remove than the purple.

The same goes for your hair. Colors like Cosmic Sunshine or Frose, which are lighter colors, on bleached platinum blonde hair will fade out completely in about 24 washes.

If you want Arctic Fox to last as long as possible, your hair should be bleached to an extra light base

If you don’t want to put your hair at risk by bleaching it to a platinum blonde, then it’s best to look for another hair color.

All the Arctic Fox colors that you can see in the pictures on their website are applied on a platinum blonde base.

So, if you want to get colors like Virgin Pink or Aquamarine to look just like in the Instagram posts, you’ll need to have that base color.

I assure you they look nothing alike and the reason is very simple. The Arctic Fox hair dye doesn’t penetrate the hair core. Instead, it’s only deposited on the outside like a film of color.

That’s why the hair dye gradually fades with each wash.

 

If your hair is light brown, and you choose Aquamarine, the color will not show through as well as if you apply it to a light blonde 8.

7 secrets to know before applying Arctic Fox to your hair

All permanent or semi-permanent hair color brands have their secrets. Arctic Fox is no exception.

I’ll tell you how to achieve a vibrant and unique color without much effort.

 

1- Apply Arctic Fox on your freshly bleached hair

I think after everything I’ve explained, there’s not much more to add.  To get the vibrant Arctic Fox colors you see on social media, you need to bleach your hair. 

 

But on the positive side, Arctic Fox is formulated with high-quality natural products that will add nutrients to your hair.

Therefore, if you color your hair with Arctic Fox immediately after bleaching, you’ll be starting on the road to hydrating your hair.

 

2- Do the strand test to make sure you really like the Arctic Fox tone you chose

Tell me the truth, I’m sure it’s happened to you more than once. Your best friend has a dress that makes you sigh.

Every time she wears that dress, your world goes black and you feel that healthy envy becomes unhealthy.

You want that dress and you want it now!

 

You find out what store she bought it from, sneak into it, and buy it. When you finally get home, you slowly slide it down your body, and when you finally look in the mirror…you discover that dress doesn’t make you look great.

You don’t know why, maybe the length, or the shape of the neckline, but the same dress that highlights your friend’s body, has the opposite effect on you.

3- Prepare the place where you’ll apply the hair dye

I mean that you protect all the objects that are in the place where you’ll apply the hair dye, which is usually the bathroom. Arctic Fox stains absolutely everything in its path.

 

 I also advise you to use clothes that you don’t mind getting stained  and old towels. Arctic Fox has quite a liquid texture and you might get some spills while applying it.

 

4- Apply Arctic Fox on your dry and clean hair

If you apply a permanent hair dye, your hair must be unwashed for at least 48 hours. The sebum produced by the scalp protects it from the chemicals it contains.

 But in the case of Arctic Fox, as it is a semi-permanent hair dye, your hair must be clean. 

The natural oiliness of the scalp can cause the hair dye to slip and not adhere to the surface of the hair.

 

5- Choose a soft tone to start with

The lighter tones are ideal for women who are new to the amazing world of fantasy colors.

Arctic Fox works with intense pigments. So,  I recommend that you use less flashy tones for the first application. 

 

6- Apply moisturizer or vaseline to your skin

This is a trick I use in the salon to keep the hair dye from staining the neck, forehead, and side of the ears when applying it.

The ingredients in the cream prevent the hair dye from sticking to the skin. It’ll help you avoid cleaning hair dye stains for hours.

 

7- Don’t leave Arctic Fox on longer than instructed

While your hair will not suffer any damage during the application, you can saturate it with color. Then, you’ll stain your clothes, sheets, pillows, and anything else that touches your hair with hair dye residue.

 You should leave the hair dye on for 30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm, almost cold water  to helps pigments deposit.

 

Conclusions

If you choose Arctic Fox’s pastels and light tones, the color will fade completely after 24 washes.

However, as the more intense colors contain more pigment, they can last up to 35 washes.
