Can I bleach my hair again after a week? A hairdresser’s opinion

woman with bleached hair with doubts

  • You shouldn’t bleach your hair again after a week.
  • First, your hair won’t resist a new chemical process in such a short time. Therefore, it’ll end up totally ruined.
  • SSecondly, it’s not always necessary to bleach your hair again. If your hair has unwanted undertones, you may be able to solve it by applying a toning shampoo. This way, you’d avoid bleaching your hair again.
  • It’s always advisable to wait three weeks to bleach your hair again.

How Soon Can I Bleach My Hair Again to Fix it?

As a stylist, I don’t recommend you bleach your hair again after a week.

I’ll explain why.

Bleaching is a very aggressive process.

Let’s take an example that has nothing to do with hair.

Let’s suppose that you decide to run a 42-kilometer marathon. To run the marathon, you prepare for several months and train every day.

You also adjust your habits and your diet to the hours of rest. The long-awaited day arrives, and you run the marathon. When you cross the finish line, you are moved to tears by your achievement, even though you were not the winner.

Now, would you be able to run a second marathon after a week to try to reach the finish line first?

I think your answer will be no. It would be really crazy.

Well, that’s the same you want to do to your hair.   Bleaching your hair again after a week is like running two marathons in one week.   It’s really crazy.

You’ll wear down your hair. Once your hair starts to break, there’s no turning back: you’ll have to cut it to remove all the damaged parts.

So, I insist.

It’s not a good idea to bleach your hair again after a week.

It’s also not a good idea to bleach your hair again after 24 hours.

bleaching again
I know some people do it.

I also know many YouTubers show how they bleach their hair again after a week.

But, maybe those Youtubers have experience in coloring and you don’t. Maybe they don’t care if their hair falls out. Maybe, they don’t care if their hair falls out just to get a few more views, but you care about your hair.

Maybe, they are guided by a professional hairdresser, and you just rely on your best friend, who knows nothing about coloring.

Besides, why do you want to bleach your hair again after a week?

There are two possible answers to these questions:

  • Your hair has unwanted shades, but you’ve reached the blonde level you wanted.
  • You feel like you want it even lighter.

Don’t go away because we’ll analyze both situations and I’ll tell you how to proceed in each case.

If you have reached the blonde level you want, it’s not necessary to bleach your hair again in one or three weeks

You can use a toning shampoo to remove the unwanted shades in your blonde hair.   That’s great news.

Your hair won’t go through a chemical process as aggressive as bleaching again.

The toning shampoos contain no ammonia or developer and can remove unwanted shades after two washes.

  •   If your hair is too orange after bleaching,   use the blue shampoo.
  •   If your hair is too yellow after bleaching,   use the violet shampoo.

It’s easy to use. You only need to replace your usual shampoo with the toning shampoo for three to five minutes according to the brand you choose.

But,   if you’re desperate and want to accelerate the process,   you can use the shampoo as a color mask ONLY ONCE.

  • Dampen your hair slightly. Don’t let it drip.
  • Apply a large amount of shampoo to your entire mane.
  • Massage your hair to make sure you cover every inch with shampoo.
  • Leave it on for   10 minutes.
  • Rinse your hair with cold water until it runs clean.

To keep your hair blonde without unwanted shades, use the toning shampoo twice a week.

If you haven’t achieved the blonde you want, you should wait three weeks to bleach your hair again

But before bleaching your hair again, you should repair it.   Remember that bleaching takes away moisture and nutrients from your hair, especially if you bleached your hair on your own.

Sobre todo, si has decolorado el cabello por tu cuenta.

Did you know that bleaching leaves your hair extremely porous? This is partly good news because it’ll soak up all the nourishing and moisturizing treatments like a sponge.

Protein nourishes your hair: :

  • Keratin
  • Elastin

Many masks and balms contain these proteins. You can apply them twice a week and leave them on for 20 minutes.

To moisturize your hair, you need moisturizing agents: :

  • Coconut oil
  • Linseed oil
  • Argan oil
  • Rose oil [/your_list]

These oils will also nourish your hair by providing moisture. You can use them as masks three times a week for 20 minutes.

You should use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners because sulfates are detergents that dehydrate your hair. And that's exactly what you should avoid in your bleached hair.

Maintain this moisturizing and nourishing routine for three weeks.

If your hair is healthier after a week, (it isn't coarse or dry and has no frizz) you can bleach it again.

Conclusions

I don't recommend you bleach your hair again after one week.

Bleaching is done at least every three weeks to avoid irreversible damage to the hair. During those three weeks, do intensive nourishing treatments.

This is the only way to prepare your hair for the marathon that awaits it and win!
