I’m sure that you use more than four of them.

If you want to control the oiliness in your straight hair, use a clarifying shampoo once a month

use of clarifying shampoo on oily hair

I know about one of your biggest nightmares: the oiliness of your straight hair.

As straight hair has no waves or movement, it’s more exposed to the weather.

Unbelievably, curls keep your scalp temperature higher in winter and cooler in summer. Yes, they work like heat diffusers.

As   straight hair can’t balance temperatures, the scalp expels more oils to protect the roots and maintain the temperature.

Also, straight hair is generally thin and weak.

Therefore, you already know that the best for your straight hair is to wash it every 48 to 72 hours. This way, your scalp will have fewer natural oils and your hair will look less oily.

So,   you can use the clarifying shampoo once a month. . Read again: you should use the clarifying shampoo   once a month   if your hair is straight.

If you use it more often, it could dry out your straight hair from the roots.  Your hair would be ruined, and you may even notice a significant hair loss.

Use the clarifying shampoo once a month to let your scalp breathe. It’s also important to deeply moisturize your hair after shampooing.

A clarifying shampoo should be used once every 45 days on curly hair

This may seem contradictory because you probably use frequent styling creams, oils, or mousses to maintain the shape of the curl.

Obviously, traces of these products will build up on your scalp and hair.

Although clarifying shampoo removes that buildup,   it can also flatten the shape of your curl into a loose wave.

Then, you’ll need to use more styling cream. So, in this case, I recommend you choose the less damaging option.

What would it be?

Use a clarifying shampoo once every 45 days.   If possible, try to choose a clarifying shampoo specifically designed for curly, hair that contains oils.

Conclusions

Now you know how often to use clarifying shampoo according to your hair needs. Finally, although each clarifying shampoo manufacturer has its own instructions, you should apply it on wet hair and leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes.

Always follow the manufacturer’s directions and look for the clarifying shampoo that best suits your hair type.
