You might be asking yourself which option is the best, Nioxin or Rogain, to get rid of hair loss.

Don’t worry.

You aren’t the only person in the world with the same doubt. In fact.

I was just like you about a year ago.

So as not to leave you with a thorn in your side, I’ll tell you that while Nioxin works well to strengthen and thicken each one of your hairs, Rogaine is used to get new hair to grow.

Of course, this is a big difference in general terms.

Do you want to know how I know?

Let me tell you.

I don’t know how old you are, but I’m close to fifty, and about a year ago, I started to transition to the first steps of that period called menopause.

Maybe, I was always very active, happy, and entrepreneurial because of my way of life; I never experienced sadness or depression. In fact, I felt better than ever.

But there was something that worried me. I started to notice hair loss, and I mean a lot.

When I brushed my hair, when I showered, I noticed that a lot of hair ended up on my pillowcase even when I woke up.

It can be a traumatic and devastating experience both for men and women, but I wasn’t ready to lose my head and succumb to the waters of desperation.

Although you may not believe it, hair loss affects up to 40% of women.

And this is due to hormonal changes, whether during periods, pregnancy, or menopause.

Even some medications that affect hormone levels, like contraceptive pills and similar things, are commonly related to hair loss.

In the case of men, hair loss can be due to a low level of testosterone.

Whether you are a man or a woman, you can calm down.

Because modern advances have allowed us to stop hair loss, and there are many options for treatment on the market.

Now, not all the options work, as I previously mentioned concerning Nioxin and Rogaine.

That’s why today, I’ll tell you:

  • The Differences between Nioxin and Rogaine
  • What does the Nioxin treatment consist of
  • The most important characteristics of Rogaine
  • My experience using both products

I recommend to you that in addition to reading this post to the end, before you decide to use either of these two products, you evaluate your hair carefully.

Nioxin and Rogaine are the most popular products currently available on the market.

Firstly, both Nioxin and Rogaine have been on the market for some time. This shows, without a doubt, that they are serious treatments with proven results.

  • But it’s crucial to highlight that Nioxin is NOT a treatment to stimulate hair growth.

The product uses technological advances to make your hair denser and thicken the hair that has become finer and finer for different circumstances.

  • Rogaine, meanwhile, is better than Nioxin as a treatment to stimulate the growth of new hair.

It is designed as a hair growth product, which is the most sought after solution compared to thicken hair, which Nioxin does.

The Rogaine hair treatment’s principal ingredient is minoxidil, which is said to stimulate hair growth in a few weeks.

  • Another one of the big differences is that Nioxin presents its treatment in different kits according to your hair type and the thinning of the hair fiber.

While with the Rogaine product line, you have to buy one product.

Do you want to know what a Nioxin kit consists of? I will tell you in just a few minutes.

  • Another one of the main differences between the two products is that while Rogaine should be used daily, Nioxin products should only be used up to four times a week.

Now, if there is something that the two products have in common, it’s in the consistency and time that you should use them.

Both products should be used for a period of six months, minimum, without interruptions.

That means it isn’t worth it to start one month and stop the next month.

Now, do you want to know a bit about the benefits of Nioxin for the thickening of hair?

What does Nioxin treatment consist of?

As I said before, all the Nioxin products are thought up to make your hair thicker.

To get this, the company designed a line containing different types of kits according to each person’s needs.

Each kit contains a three-step treatment: cleaning product or shampoo, scalp therapy or conditioner, and a scalp treatment that stays in even after you wash your hair.

The metod that you choose will depend on how thin your hair is.

Nioxin acts by reducing hair breakage, cleaning the excess sebum from the scalp, and strengthening the hair to prevent damage to the cuticle.

In addition to the three-step kits, they offer a wide array of products like masks, deep conditioners, and combing products.

Very well, up to there, it’s clear what Nioxin is for.

But what about Rogaine? Does it really work?

Before telling you about my personal experience with Rogaine, allow me to tell you a few things about this product.

The most important characteristics of Rogaine

Basically, one of the most important characteristics that make Rogaine stand out is that it contains Minoxidil.

This ingredient was originally designed to treat high blood pressure, but it showed that it was effective to cause hair growth.

Doctors generally recommend that women use a 2% Minoxidil solution, while men recommend a 5% solution.

Statistics, among which I can be found, speak highly about this product: 40% of women confirm that they note an emerging hair growth after six months of use.

As I said before, the product comes in various forms, like a spray, foam, and a topical solution.

Until here, we have a clear idea that Nioxin is basically used to make your hair thicker, while Rogaine is meant to stop hair loss by making new hair fibers grow.

As promises are made to be kept, I’ll tell you about my experience with the two products.

You may ask why I have experience with each of them?

Because unlike you, I didn’t have anyone who could explain what each one was used for.

So, don’t make the same mistake and keep reading.

My experience using Nioxin and Rogaine

Surely, you remember that I said that with reaching menopause at the beginning, I noticed that I started to lose my hair.

And that was something that really affected me, not just physically but psychologically.

I felt terrible, and my self-esteem was on the floor.

So the first swing I took was to buy a Nioxin kit.

Personally, I decided for kit number 4, for fine and colored hair.

Religiously, for six months, I used the Nioxin kit four times a week. I washed my hair with the shampoo each time I used it, doing some massages on my scalp.

After rinsing, I applied the conditioner, which I let sit for two or three minutes, after doing a series of massages on my scalp.

Finally, after rinsing the conditioner, I applied to my hair the third product, which, although you rinse it, actually stays in your hair.

  • After six months, I noticed that my hair was thicker. I also could prove that my ends didn’t look as split, and even, it was less frizzy.
  • The whole not having as much frizz surely had to do with preventing the hair from breaking.
  • But I didn’t feel delighted.

I still was losing hair, I think even more, and I started to note some bald spots on my scalp.

Ultimately, I decided to consult with a dermatologist due to one of my best friends’ advice.

After doing a series of studies on my scalp, including a blood test and others that I don’t know what they are called, she recommended that I use Rogaine.

And I confirmed my suspicions: Nioxin didn’t work to stimulate hair growth.

So, another six months of applying a product to my scalp.

But this time, two times a day, religiously.

I chose the foam, which has no smell and dries quickly, which turned into a daily-use product, totally easy to use.

What were the visible results after six months of use?

  • I noticed that there started to appear a small bit of fuzz in those little bald spots that were threatening to appear on my scalp, which gradually transformed into new hair.
  • On the other hand, I didn’t find hair on my pillowcase nor my floor when I brushed my hair.
  • So, finally, the hair loss had been detained.

Ultimately, I should have treated my hair loss problem with Rogaine in the first place.

As you can see, it doesn’t have to do with good or bad products. It has to do with using specific products for each problem.

  • Do you want to give more volume and density to your fine hair?

Use Nioxin.

  • Do you want to stop hair loss and stimulate the growth of new hair fiber?

Use Rogaine.

If you follow this advice, you will save a lot of time, money, and, above all, disillusions.

Now, all you have to do is identify the problem that you want to combat, and once you do, which will you use: Nioxin or Rogaine?
