  • You can’t use dry shampoo every day. You should use it a maximum of twice a week.
  • And you should also keep in mind that you can only use it two days in a row.
  • It’s best to alternate using dry shampoo with washing your hair the traditional way, to make sure the product doesn’t accumulate on your scalp and to avoid possible infections.
  • Today I’ll give you two ideal routines for using dry shampoo on greasy hair and normal hair.

As you can see,  it’s best to alternate using dry shampoo with a traditional wash with shampoo and water.

So, for example, if you wash your hair with shampoo and water twice a week, you can complement that by using dry shampoo twice a week.

Soon I’ll give you a wash routine based on your hair type.

Dry shampoo is an essential product for women looking for two things:

  •  Women who play sports  or work out every day and don’t want to wash their hair every day.
  •  Women who have greasy hair  and need to control the excess sebum that their scalp emits.

But even in the cases I’ve mentioned a few moments ago, you can’t just use dry shampoo to wash your hair on a regular basis.

Because  dry shampoo doesn’t wash your hair . By that I mean that it doesn’t get rid of dust and the residue from hair products that you use daily.

The only thing dry shampoo does is control grease and oil in your hair to make it look cleaner.

Do you want to know how many days a week you can use dry shampoo?

That’s what I’m about to tell you.

And  you can never use dry shampoo more than two days in a row.  it’s also important to always switch back and forth between using dry shampoo and a traditional wash with shampoo and water.

A traditional wash, with regular shampoo, conditioner and water, will clean your hair from roots to ends, something that dry shampoo will never do.

Because washing your hair with dry shampoo only gets rid of the layer of grease that your scalp has emitted, but it doesn’t get rid of dirt and residue from hair products. And it also doesn’t moisturize your hair.

If you use dry shampoo every day, you can hurt your hair and even your scalp. How?

  • Folliculitis
  • Hair loss
  • Extreme dryness

Folliculitis is a bacterial infection  that could be caused by the accumulation of dry shampoo residue.  Because when you spray the dry shampoo on your scalp, the product captures the grease, leaving a dusty residue.

But that dusty residue deposits in your hair follicles and if a few days go by and you don’t get rid of that residue by washing your hair with shampoo and water, it can cause an infection that will need to be treated with antibiotics.

And if you don’t treat folliculitis, you might end up with hair loss and extreme dryness.

That’s why it’s important to wash your hair with water, shampoo and conditioner.  The water will fully remove the dry shampoo residue and that will ensure that you avoid folliculitis.

On the other hand, dry shampoo could dry out your hair, because the grease or sebum that the dry shampoo gets rid of in your hair is the main source of hydration for your hair follicles, which are what foster hair growth.

If those follicles start to dry out, then they’ll stop hydrating your hair’s nucleus, and that will cause all of your hair to dry out.

When I tell you all of this, I’m not trying to convince you not to use dry shampoo. But I am trying to tell you that if you use it, you should use it correctly.

And that’s why I’m going to give you two routines for using dry shampoo correctly for different hair types.

How to use dry shampoo in greasy and normal hair

We all know that our skin is important and that not everyone has the same skin type. If your skin is dry, you’ll use certain products that aren’t the same ones you’d use if you had greasy skin.

It’s the same with your hair. If you have greasy hair, then you have to care for it in a different way than you’d care for normal hair.

That’s why I’m going to tell you about two different routines that you can follow for using dry shampoo based on your hair type.

Dry shampoo routine for greasy hair

  • Day 1: wash your hair with shampoo, conditioner and water.
  • Day 2: use dry shampoo.
  • Day 3: don’t wash your hair or use dry shampoo.
  • Day 4: wash your hair with shampoo, conditioner and water.
  • Day 5: use dry shampoo.
  • Day 6: don’t wash your hair or use dry shampoo.
  • Day 7: wash your hair with shampoo, conditioner and water.

Dry shampoo routine for normal or mixed hair type

  • Day 1: wash your hair with shampoo, conditioner and water.
  • Day 2 and day 3: don’t wash your hair or use dry shampoo.
  • Day 4: use dry shampoo.
  • Day 5 and day 6: don’t wash your hair or use dry shampoo.
  • Day 7: wash your hair with shampoo, conditioner and water.

Conclusion

You should only use dry shampoo at most twice a week, and never more than two days in a row.

Because the product wasn’t design to clean your hair. Its purpose is to control grease on your scalp on the days you can’t wash your hair.
