Did you just get a new haircut and can’t wait for it to settle to show it off?

In general,   haircuts take between 7 and 10 days  to settle.

But as I said before,  haircuts behave differently  on straight, curly, thin, thick, short, or long hair.

Join me for an in-depth look at each case!

How long does it take a short haircut to look good?

It’s easy to notice the hairdresser’s work in short hair.

It only takes  four to five days for the cut to settle.

Generally,  the nape of the neck and sideburns are not problematic. You can see at first glance whether they are well or badly cut.

As the hair is short, the sideburns and the nape of the neck immediately reveal a good cut from a bad one. In this type of work, what takes a little more time is the top, as it’s the “long” part of the cut.

If you’ve had a short haircut, it’ll look perfect in 5 days according to the technique used.

Did you know that your short hair is a trend?

How long does it take a long haircut to look good?

If you’ve only had your ends trimmed, you may not notice such a big difference in your long hair.
However, you’ll  notice that your hair won’t tangle  or have split ends. So?

So, if you just cut your ends, the cut will look good right away.  But if you get feathered ends in your long hair, the cut will take about 10 days to look good.

The strands will intertwine at different speeds according to your hair type.

So, wash your hair and apply styling creams, soft gels, foams, or soft waxes  to help set the cut  and reduce the wait.

How long does it take a fine haircut to look good?

young girl with fine hair with a worried expression

Fine hair is quite docile. So, the waiting time for a haircut to settle won’t be that long.

In 1 week you’ll be able to see the result  of the cut on fine hair, as it’ll look much better than at the beginning.

Fine hair shows the most evidence of mistakes in a bad haircut.  Therefore, if you notice a mistake in your haircut as soon as you leave the salon, you have 2 alternatives:

  • If the error is slight, you can wait a few days because your cut may settle by then.
  • If the error is serious, you’ll have no choice but to return to your stylist to fix the defect.

If you get a bad cut on fine hair, it won’t matter how long you wait for the cut to settle.  It won’t settle and it won’t look good.

Thick hair is the easiest of all. Due to its texture, it tends to settle quickly to any type of cut.

Thick hair settles in about 5 days.  It immediately adopts the chosen shape and style.

However, you must learn to take care of your thick hair, even if it easily adapts to your new cut.

How long does it take a straight haircut to look good?

Straight hair behaves very similar to fine hair, except that  straight hair can be fine or coarse.

If a cut on straight hair is flawless, it takes 1 week to settle and look perfect.

In this case, as in the case of fine hair, using products products helps significantly to reduce the waiting time for the final cut.

How long does it take a curly haircut to look good?

Curly hair is the fastest to adapt to any haircut. In just 2 or 3 days, curly hair will settle to the new cut and look amazing. But be careful!

A poorly executed cut on curly hair is a very difficult mistake to fix.

If the hairdresser makes a mistake when cutting curly hair, you’ll need a lot of time, patience, and products to achieve a solution.

How long does it take a bleached haircut to look good?

long haired blonde woman

It’ll take about 15 days for bleached hair to look good with a new cut.

However, this time may be reduced or extended according to your hair health.

How long does it take a thinning cut to look good?

If you cut your hair with the thinning technique, you’ll need up to  1 month for it to look good.

But if the thinning has been done poorly,   within a month you’ll be in worse condition than before you cut it.

Your hair will have increased in quantity and that will only be the beginning of  a mane that will progressively get out of control.

Incorporate products that help you reduce the volume of your hair. You’ll have to wait 6 months for your hair to grow before thinning again with a more effective method.

As we have seen in this article, a haircut takes 7 to 10 days to settle.

As always, I recommend you make an appointment at the salon and clarify all your doubts with your hairdresser before getting a new haircut.

He/she will know  how long after the haircut it looks better.  GO FOR IT!
